Wood flew home to England early whilst on international duty with New Zealand after picking up a knock in Saturday’s Oceania World Cup Qualifier against Fiji.

But New Zealand coach Anthony Hudson then stated that there were no serious problems with the forward who had been released as a precaution only.

Speaking at Thursday afternoon's Thorp Arch press conference, Monk confirmed that Wood's injury was "nothing serious" and that he expected the striker to be fine to face the Royals.

Monk also revealed that right back Lewie Coyle is back in training after his foot injury, leaving suspended right back Luke Ayling and young full back Tyler Denton as his only absentees for Reading.

"All of the international players have returned and have been training this week.

"Coyley is also back out of the injury room so everyone is ready to go."

Asked exactly what type of knock Wood had experienced, Monk explained: "It's just the bumps and bruises you get from the game.

"It was an early knock, a collision on him on his leg.

"But it's nothing serious and we are very confident that he will be fine and ready to go for the weekend."
