Former Sheffield bus driver Brendan Moore will swap the double-decker for a Porsche when he takes charge of the Betfred World Championship final.

For the Steel City referee will be chauffered to and from the showpiece final at the city’s Crucible Theatre in a high-powered sports car.

Life in the fast lane is something Moore – who first officiated on the professional tour in 2005 – has become well-versed to, spending six months of the year jetting around the globe.

But the 46-year-old is relishing the chance to take charge of his second Crucible final – the sport’s showpiece occasion – after refereeing the 2014 final.

“I would have been driving (on Sunday), then a taxi on Monday, for the party afterwards,” Moore told The Yorkshire Post.

“But, Porsche in Sheffield are doing the courtesy cars for the final on Sunday and Monday. So a Porsche is coming to pick me up and drop me at home for all four sessions.

“I can’t wait for that, I might be dropping a few hints to see if they would let me have one on lease for a year.”
