wharfedale conceded a second-half penalty try which cost them a bonus point in a 17-7 defeat at Blackheath.
The Greens matched the home forwards but it was the strong running and good support play of the Blackheath backs that proved to be the decisive factor.
Wharfedale started well but a penalty from James Guy drifted wide.
Blackheath also missed a penalty before building through the phases and creating an overlap to send in Benjamin Summers for the first try.
Dale dug in and were only undone by a fine break from Michael Canty, who extended the lead to 10-0 at half-time with an unconverted try.
Ryan Squires converted the penalty try but Dale did not wilt and Lloyd Davies sent a grubber kick through and Oliver Cicognini touched down for James Guy to add the extras.
