All Creatures Great and Small Series 7 new trailer reveals Siegfried’s surprise kitchen kiss
Some All Creatures Great and Small fans will not like it one bit. The trailer for the new series of the popular 5 drama puts the cat among the pigeons with a scene showing Siegfried kissing Dorothy - in Mrs Hall’s kitchen, of all places.
There was much to unpack in the 60-second trailer released Wednesday by 5 to tease season seven of All Creatures Great and Small, which returns on Thursday, September 17, at 9pm.
A clip of Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley), which shows directly after the aforementioned kiss, shows her looking rather sad - wistful, to say the least.
Then Siegfried, played by Samuel West, turns up at the door of Dorothy (Maimie McCoy) with a bunch of flowers, having just advised his brother Tristan (Callum Woodhouse), “Sometimes you just have to take a risk.” Uh-oh.

There are hints, too, that all might not be so rosy in the garden regarding Tristan’s relationship with Charlotte (Gaia Wise), who tells him: “I’m beginning to feel that I don’t quite fit any more.”
Elsewhere, there seems to be trouble brewing at t’farm, with Helen Herriot (Rachel Shenton) telling her father, Richard (Tony Pitts): “We can’t go back to how we were, Dad. Not if we want the farm to survive.”
At least Helen and James (Nicholas Ralph) appear to be loved-up and stronger than ever, as a couple and parents, waving off son Jimmy (Thomas Riches) as he starts school, although they still have little Rosie (Isabella Ward) at home.
Fans will be delighted to see that the trailer suggests there will be many lighter moments in the new series, in particular with the arrival of rival vet Granville Bennett (Caolan McCarthy), who looks set to shake up the Skeldale House trio of vets, at first with his marketing methods.

A clip of him meeting James, Siegfried and Tristan in The Drovers, presumably for the first time, sees him greet them by saying to James: “The lad from Edinburgh,” then to Siegfried, “And his Dad.” Siegfried’s face is a picture.
What we already know is that episode one is called ‘Back to School’. It picks up in Spring 1946, a few months after the festive finale of season six, and the whole Skeldale House “family” is together, under one jam-packed roof.
Reprising their roles are Patricia Hodge as Mrs Pumphrey, with Tricki (Dora), Imogen Clawson as Jenny, and Mollie Winnard as Maggie.
There will be six new hour-long episodes plus a Christmas Special. Based on James Herriot’s books, by real-life Thirsk vet Alf Wight, 5’s adaptation is produced by BAFTA-winning Playground and MASTERPIECE on PBS.

“Series 7 of All Creatures Great and Small returns viewers to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in 1946,” says 5.
“With the war finally over, Skeldale House is full once again and livelier than ever as our beloved characters reunite under one roof and look ahead to a hopeful new chapter.”
Anyway, back to Siegfried’s love life, and Helen seems to have a grip on the Skeldale House dynamics, telling Mrs Hall: “He doesn’t know how lucky he is to have you.”
Many will agree.
The trailer closes with Siegfried saying to Mrs Hall: “You’ve helped me see what’s been staring me in the face.”
What in Hebden’s name are we meant to make of that?
