Leeds Rhinos coach Brad Arthur lays out challenge to Wiremu Greig after reuniting with prop at Headingley

Leeds Rhinos boss Brad Arthur has challenged Wiremu Greig to prove his physicality in Super League after linking back up with his former Parramatta Eels prop at Headingley.

The 26-year-old, who joins the Rhinos on an initial one-year contract, made his NRL debut under Arthur before going on to feature 27 times for Parramatta.

Greig is fresh from a season at North Queensland Cowboys, topping up his three NRL appearances in the Queensland Cup with Townsville Blackhawks.

"Wiremu is a big, strong middle who can help us get the job done through the middle of the field," said Arthur.

"He has experience at NRL level and knows what it takes to compete physically. We want forwards who are prepared to do the hard work, carry the ball strongly and make life difficult for the opposition, and Wiremu has the opportunity to bring those qualities to our group.

"He will come in and have to earn his place, like everyone else, but I’m looking forward to working with him again and seeing what he can bring to the team."

Greig becomes Leeds' fifth recruit for 2027 following the signings of Morgan Gannon, Dylan Walker, Edenn Rogers-Smith and Nick Cotric. He replaces Matt Lodge after he returned home to Australia.

"I'm really excited to be joining Leeds Rhinos," said Greig.

"It's a club with a great history and a passionate supporter base. I'm looking forward to getting over there and being part of it.

"I know how competitive Super League is and want to come in, work hard and do my job for the team. As a forward, you want to be in the middle of the action, carrying hard and doing the tough stuff for your team-mates.

"I'm looking forward to getting started and giving everything I've got for Leeds."
