Plans to build new industrial development off one of Bradford’s busiest roads

Plans to build a new industrial development off one of Bradford’s busiest roads have been approved.

Last year a planning application to construct seven light industrial units at Victoria Works on Rook Lane, just off Rooley Lane was submitted to Bradford Council.

The plans would also see an existing tyre unit on the site expanded.

The seven units would all be part of a single building to be built on the far end of the site – directly behind the Rooley Lane Starbucks drive thru.

Submitted by Steven Finlay, the application said the development would create an extra 553 square metres of industrial space and seven jobs.

Planning officers said: “The site is located within an area which comprises of a mixture of uses including commercial, residential and industrial. The proposal will not result in a change of use of the site but will introduce more built form and light industrial units within it.”

One condition of the approval is that improvements will need to be made to the access road before any of the units are occupied.

There will also be a condition that prevents the seven smaller units from merging to form a bigger unit without consent from planners.
