Uni Management School in top rank

The school, on Conduit Road, Crookesmoor, has been reaccredited for the maximum five-year term by the Association of MBAs, following a two-day inspection.

The panel also granted four of the business masters programmes a five-year accreditation – improving on a previous three-year award.

The school has 2,000 overseas students, some 400 from China. It has 1,200 undergraduates, 700 on masters courses and 100 taking a PhD.

They pay up to £21,000-a-year in fees and each one is estimated to pump £15,000 into the local economy.

The school, one of 50 departments within the university, earns a seventh of its teaching income.

Dean, Prof David Oglethorpe, said: “Five further years of AMBA accreditation is superb news and testament to the School’s continued hard work and professionalism.

“The panel gave us several commendations around leadership, ongoing development of internationalisation plans, facilities and professional service support. I’m delighted that these comments demonstrate that running a world-class management school is a whole-team effort – everybody contributes and should feel proud. Maintaining our AMBA accreditation also secures our Triple Crown status, and keeps us in the top one per cent worldwide.”

The expert panel, comprising an AMBA representative and senior figures from other accredited universities across the world, praised ‘the loyalty, enthusiasm and dedication’ of all staff, and a ‘tangible atmosphere of cooperation.
