Hallam Union earns national green award

SHEFFIELD Hallam University Students’ Union has won a national environment award for its volunteering work.

It received the Green Impact Students’ Unions Gold Excellence Award at the annual NUS Services Convention.

The award recognises the students’ union’s commitment to sustainability across a range of student-led volunteering projects.

This includes the ‘Green Team’, an after-school programme at Lowfield Primary School in Sheffield, which runs over five weeks and teaches the children about natural disasters, recycling, wildlife conservation and carbon footprints.

Twenty children have taken part in the programme, which is run by student volunteers from Hallam Union.
