Almost 50 new Covid deaths recorded in Yorkshire

A total of 49 new Covid deaths have been recorded in Yorkshire hospitals in the first December daily update.

Deaths were recorded where a patient either tested positive for Covid-19 or where no positive test result was received for Covid-19, but Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death at hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

In Leeds, a further 11 people have died from the virus.

This takes the total deaths in the city to 590.

The death toll in Yorkshire now stands at 4,850.

In November, 1,410 deaths were recorded by hospital trusts across Yorkshire.

The new deaths announced on December 1 were recorded by the following trusts:

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 11

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust: 11

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust: 1

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust: 2

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust: 6

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 3

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 3

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 3
