Total of 32 new Covid deaths recorded by Yorkshire hospital trusts

A total of 32 new Covid deaths have been recorded by Yorkshire hospital trusts, according to a new update.

Figures released by NHS England show 489 deaths were recorded in the country's hospitals in the 24 hours to 4pm on Sunday.

The deaths took place between November 25 2020 and January 10 2021, with the time taken for positive results to be received among the potential factors in a delay between a death happening and being recorded.

The data represents the deaths of hospital patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 in the previous 28 days and whose deaths were recorded in the latest reporting period.

Since April 28 2020, NHS England and NHS Improvement also started to report the number of patient deaths where there has been no Covid-19 positive test result but it is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death in the death certification process.

The figures for the latest reporting period show there were 16 such deaths in England.

None of these deaths were in the North East and Yorkshire.

Deaths were recorded at the following hospital trusts in Yorkshire and the Humber:

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 7

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 1
