Total of 54 new Covid deaths in Yorkshire hospitals

A total of 54 new Covid deaths have been recorded in Yorkshire hospitals in an update released on Tuesday.

Deaths were recorded where a patient either tested positive for Covid-19 or where no positive test result was received for Covid-19, but Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death at hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

The highest increase was recorded by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, with nine new deaths recorded.

Elsewhere in Yorkshire, a further 45 deaths were recorded.

This takes the death toll in the county from the virus to 4,491.

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 3

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust: 3

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 7

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust: 9

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust: 8

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust: 4

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust: 3

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 6

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 3

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 1
