Hospitals reduce parking charges

CAR parking charges are being cut today at three hospitals in the region.

The fee for a day at hospitals in Goole, Scunthorpe and Grimsby will fall by 50p from £5. Weekly tickets will fall £2.50 to £22.50.

Chief executive of Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, Karen Jackson, said: “Balancing our funding needs for car park maintenance, security and improvements with a desire to present a fair cost to people who use our car parks is not easy.

“We have taken on board all the comments we’ve received about the tariffs and have managed to devise a financial solution that will still allow us to invest sufficiently in car park maintenance and security. This reduction now means our day ticket rate is the cheapest in the area.”

Fifty extra parking spaces have been created in the main car park at Grimsby hospital and new signs giving real-time updates on where spaces are available have gone up at Scunthorpe and Grimsby hospitals.

Security at Goole hospital has also been increased to provide a round-the-clock service.

Park-and-ride services are also available in Scunthorpe which cost 50p each way.
