Circuit, York: Leaks at 'poorly-maintained' historic York nightclub building prompt repair plans
Works to fix leaks at a York nightclub are among the repairs proposed for its historic home.
Plans lodged with York Council would see repairs carried out on 12 Clifford Street, which houses Circuit.
The application stated the works would help preserve the Grade II-listed 19th Century building and were essential to address existing defects.
They added leaks affecting the first floor of the nightclub, its central roof and a pipe on the Cumberland Street side of the building would also be investigated and fixed.

Plans lodged with the council propose removing, refixing or replacing loose and cracked roof slates.
Moss lichen and other vegetation is also set to be removed from the building’s roof.
Gutters and drains would be cleared of debris and vegetation and two lead pipes would be replaced.
Loose and missing mortar on the building’s chimney would also be repointed and moss and lichen cleaned off.
Masonry is also set to be cleaned using specialist methods.
Plans stated the works would help extend the lifespan of the building and reduce the need for more extensive repairs in the future.
The application stated: “The building in its current state looks poorly-maintained.
“Where repairs are required, the proposals prioritise retention and repair of existing fabric rather than wholesale replacement, ensuring that the historic and architectural significance of the listed building is preserved.”
