One of the best barn conversions in Leeds is for sale
One of the best barn conversions in Leeds is now for sale. The Barns, Wigton Gate, Alwoodley is on the market for £1.5m with Beadnall Copley.
After standing for over 200 years, The Barns has had a fruitful life. Along with providing shelter for farm animals, they were used as an air raid office during the war and overlooked the collection point when there was a toll to use the Leeds to Harrogate road.

The layout of the buildings played a part in the decision as they form a quadrangle, which now overlooks a courtyard garden and an outdoor swimming pool. No expense was spared on the original conversion in the 1980s and the property has since been extended to include garaging for eight cars.
Regular modernisation has also kept the interiors up to date while preserving the original character of the barns, which has exposed beams and trusses. The property has 5,500sq ft of space with a full-height drawing room and mezzanine dining room and library. The bespoke dining kitchen by Jeremy Wood, which has a wine fridge and an Aga plus polished marble flooring.
The living room has double doors opening onto the private garden. The master bedroom suite has bespoke built-in furniture, an en-suite bathroom and a dressing room by Clarity Arts.

The Barns is approached through an electric entrance gate and there is a workshop and a detached three-car garage with further garaging for four cars plus parking. There are front gardens and on the south side of the property there is an enclosed garden with lawn, sun terrace and a small orchard.
After 36 happy years at the property, the Greens are selling after falling for the charms of a country estate. “It was the same feeling I got when I saw the barns. I knew I had to have it,” says Mr Green.
The Barns is in walking distance of The Grammar School at Leeds and there are renowned golf courses within easy reach of this property. Contact: Beadnall Copley, tel: 01937 580850, www.beadnallcopley.co.uk
