Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) help students succeed on well-paid, secure jobs which is why the academic collaboration is being seen as a positive step forward.
Barnsley College, DN Colleges Group, RNN Group and The Sheffield College will give students the knowledge and skill needed to improve their prospects in the world of employment.

Long-term careers and good remuneration are on offer for those who complete the HTQs, which are available for students over the age of 18 and adults seeking to learn and re-skill in a new direction, or build on their existing talents.
The Level 4 and 5 qualifications lead on from Level 3 studies like A levels or T Levels, and include higher national certificates, higher national diplomas and foundation degrees.
Digital HTQs started in September 2022 but a roll-out of qualifications to cover 15 job sectors is due to be completed by 2025.
Funding boost for HTQs
The Government’s Higher Technical Education Skills Injection Fund has supported the implementation of the qualifications in the region with £1.3m of funding.
Those studying Level 3 courses who move on to Level 4 and 5, will not only improve the skills supply but connect with the Lifelong Learning Entitlement. The funding will also be used to tell communities in South Yorkshire about the transformational aspect of HTQs.

The new qualifications are driven and shaped by input from employers to make sure that appropriate skills are being learned. And, the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education approve the HTQs, ensuring high standards both academically and in the workplace.
The same student finance that Degree level study offers is also available.
