Barnsley FC midfielder Alex Mowatt wins prestigious award
Mowatt was recognised for his outstanding long-range volley in the draw at Millwall on October 31, although the Doncaster-born player believes that his encore - a similarly eye-catching shot from distance in the victory over Watford seven days later - eclipsed it.
The midfielder said: “I’m really happy to receive the Goal of the Month award.

Hide AdWe ended October in strong fashion and of course, it is great to have contributed to the team with decent performances and a few goals.
“To be honest, I thought my strike against Watford a week later was the better of the two, but either way, I’ll take the trophy!”
Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman commented: “When the ball landed in Alex Mowatt’s path after an unconvincing clearance, there was still lots of work to be done.
“There are two really impressive aspects to this goal, starting with the perfect chest control to take the ball onto his stronger left foot and away from defenders who want to close him down and then the perfect strike that requires balance and technique.
