Campaigners protest against NHS changes

CAMPAIGNERS who fear the Government’s health service reforms will lead to more services being provided privately will stage a rally in York at the weekend.

They have claimed the radical restructuring, which will see NHS contracts opened to the private sector, is effectively leading to the privatisation of the public health service. The Yorkshire and the Humber Reclaim Your NHS demonstration will take place in York on Saturday with campaigners assembling at noon at Dean’s Park, beside York Minster.

The Health and Social Care Act, became law after a tortuous passage through Parliament but Health Minister Lord Howe claimed the changes would provide a more co-ordinated approach to healthcare.
