Driver who reached 143mph in Lamborghini guilty over fatal M62 crash
A woman who drove a hired Lamborghini at speeds of up to 143mph before a fatal M62 crash has been found guilty of causing a 20-year-old man’s death.
Humaira Batool, 26, from the Bankfoot area of Bradford, was driving the hired Lamborghini Urus during the early hours of December 21, 2022.
Leeds Crown Court heard Batool had taken a turn at driving the vehicle and reached speeds of up to 143mph.
At around 4.20am, while travelling westbound between junctions 22 and 23 of the M62, the Lamborghini went out of control in wet weather.
The vehicle struck a barrier, causing it to flip over and catch fire.
Emergency services attended the scene and found Batool, who had suffered serious leg injuries.
Mohammed Shaan Hussain, 20, was recovered from the car but suffered fatal injuries.

West Yorkshire Police's Major Collision Enquiry Team launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
Batool was later arrested and, in January 2024, charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Following a trial at Leeds Crown Court, Batool was found guilty of causing Mr Hussain's death by dangerous driving.
She is due to be sentenced at the same court on November 2.
Detective Inspector Paul Conroy of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “We welcome the verdict of the jury in today finding Batool guilty of causing death by dangerous driving.
"We always maintained she was responsible for her own actions in choosing to drive the car to speeds up to double the speed limit , and she must now answer for the incredibly dangerous driving she demonstrated on that night.
"We now await her sentencing on 2 November.”
