Jaime Cheesman - who would now be 39 - was sharing the address in Comber Place, Grimsby, with the family of her best friend, when she was reported missing in November 1993.

Police said they would be carrying out an “extensive” forensic examination of the property and the surrounding area to try and piece together her last known movements.

Miss Cheesman - described as an “outgoing girl with quite a few friends” - grew up in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

She had only moved to Grimsby a few months previously to live with her best friend.

According to her family, the week she went missing, she left Wellingborough with her friend’s father and another man to travel to Grimsby to sign on.

Previous inquiries suggested there may have been a disagreement after she returned to Comber Place and she left. She has not been seen since.

The last confirmed sighting of Jaime was on November 2 1993 when she went to make her benefit claim in Grimsby.

Humberside Police has been carrying out fresh inquiries as part of a cold case review.

Today they released a new image of Jaime, showing what she may look like now and appealed for information from anyone who knew her.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Gadd said: “Despite previous extensive police enquiries and appeals for information, what happened to Jamie remains unknown and a source of great anxiety to her family.

“Her father feels certain that someone knows something about what happened to her.

“Whilst we believe there is a possibility that Jaime may still be in the Grimsby area, she was known to have connections with the travelling community in Northamptonshire and may have adopted this lifestyle in either area.”

He said they would also be reviewing the extensive work already carried out by Northamptonshire Police to identify any new possible lines of enquiry.

He added: “We would really like to hear from Jaime or from anyone who knew her in 1993. Perhaps you know something about her disappearance, where she may have been over the last 22 years, or the background to her life in Grimsby prior to her going missing?
