Two men arrested on suspicion of murder after father-of-two solicitor shot dead in Sheffield

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a father-of-two solicitor was shot dead in Sheffield on Saturday evening.

University of Sheffield law graduate Khuram Javed, 30, who is believed to have worked as a solicitor at a law firm in London Road, was fatally shot in Clough Road, close to Bramall Lane at around 9.40pm.

A second man, aged 31, suffered injuries to his foot and is now recovering after being discharged from hospital.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed two men, aged 21 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

Mr Javed’s family continue to be supported by specially trained officers as detectives work to piece together the events which led up to his death.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Michael Hakin said: “Our investigation is continuing at pace and my team and I remain keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward.

“I am urging anyone who witnessed this, or knows what happened, to speak to us. If you hold dash-cam footage and were driving through the area at the time, please check your camera as you may have captured something important.
