Watch moment police arrest would-be burglars just eight minutes after break-in

The video shows the moment police arrested two would-be burglars just eight minutes after break in at a shop in Yorkshire.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police reacted quickly after a report of two men trying to break in to a shop in Edlington in Doncaster on Monday (Nov 3).

When they arrived at the scene just minutes later, they arrested two men on suspicion of attempted burglary.

Body-worn video footage captures the moment Adam Baldock and Mark Long were apprehended by officers, with the pair admitting their crimes in court on Tuesday (Nov 4).

PC Joshua Lane, the officer in charge of the case, said: "Comprehensive CCTV evidence combined with the recovery of tools and the swift arrests of Baldock and Long led to them being charged with attempted burglary, and both have already pleaded guilty to the offence in court.

"In our roles, we see first-hand just how devastating and traumatising it is to be a victim of burglary.

"There is an obvious financial impact but it can also cause a lasting psychological impact and I hope this activity reassures local businesses and communities regarding our commitment to catching burglars and securing justice for victims.”
