Woman dies after being struck by reversing car in Yorkshire village

A woman has died several days after she was struck by a reversing car in a village near Bradford.

West Yorkshire Police said: "The Major Collision and Enquiry Team is continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision which took place at about 12.45pm on Sunday July 31 at the junction of Westfield Lane and Cockshott Lane in Idle.

"A VW Polo was in collision with an 83-year-old woman who can now be named as Barbara Slingsby from Bradford.

"She sadly passed away from her injuries on Monday at Leeds General Infirmary.

"Initial enquiries suggest the vehicle was reversing when the collision occurred.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has footage that may assist the investigation is asked to contact MCET on 101 or by using the LiveChat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website. The log reference is 772 of 31 July."

The driver of the Polo has been spoken to by police.
