EasyJet announces five more routes out of Newcastle Airport as it continues to expand

Europe's second-largest budget airline has announced five more routes out of Newcastle Airport – including to Barcelona, Berlin and Copenhagen.

EasyJet reopened its base at Newcastle International Airport in March, more than five years after it left the site amid Covid-era cuts, with flights to dozens of destinations.

The operator is now adding more routes, with the first to start to Barcelona beginning on October 25, with departures twice a week on Fridays and Sundays.

Two days later it will launch its new Tuesday and Saturday service to the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Hurghada.

The service to Denmark’s capital city Copenhagen starts on November 5, and will operate on Thursdays and Sundays.

Flights to Berlin start on November 20 and will operate on Mondays and Fridays, in time for visiting the city’s renowned Christmas markets. The final destination, launching on November 25 are flights to Rovaniemi, capital of Finnish Lapland, on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, said: "EasyJet’s continued growth, with 31 destinations now on sale since the opening of their base, underlines their strong commitment to both the airport and wider North East region.”
