Bradford shop ordered to close after 30 tonnes of fireworks seized
Police have requested the closure of a Bradford shop after more than 30 tonnes of fireworks were seized in an operation across West Yorkshire.
The huge quantity of fireworks were identified and taken following an inspection of two premises by West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service on Darley Street, Bradford, last month.
The haul at the property led officers to other locations in Bradford and Calderdale, where more fireworks were found and taken.
Police said the fireworks seized contained more than 5.5 tonnes of explosives.

The operation into the illegal storage of fireworks saw police apply or a 48-hour closure of Big Shotter Fireworks in Bradford.
The application was accepted and extended, meaning the store is now closed until November 12.
Christopher Kemp, Senior Fire Protection Manager at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, said “Fireworks are explosives and there are strict controls around how and where they can be stored.
“Those controls exist to protect businesses, employees and, importantly, the wider public. Our priority throughout this activity has been public safety. Working alongside HSE and West Yorkshire Police, we have removed unprecedented quantities of fireworks from a number of locations while our enquiries continue.”
