Last night there were 5ft-high drifts and blizzard conditions on Fleet Moss near Hawes, which is the highest road in Yorkshire.

After weeks of mild weather, winter returned with a vengeance over the weekend, bringing deep snow to upland areas and lighter flurries in Leeds.

Yellow weather warnings are still in force.
