Gun threat as gang raids jewellers

RAIDERS threatened staff with a firearm and hammers during a robbery at a jewellers on Wetherby High Street yesterday morning.

Officers were called to Caines Jewellers, in Wetherby, at 9.15am after the raid by three men.

The robbers, all wearing black with face coverings, are thought to have left the area in a blue Subaru Impreza vehicle.

This was later recovered from nearby Walton Road.

The men are thought to have left the area in a white BMW 1 series vehicle.

Nobody is believed to have been injured and police are asking anyone who may have seen either vehicle in the area either before or immediately after the robbery took place to come forward.
