Northern Lights festive trail to support work of Leeds United Foundation: 'This partnership will generate new experiences for many young people'
A popular festive light trail will support the work of the Leeds United Foundation whilst taking visitors on an adventure through the grounds of Temple Newsam.
The organisers of the Northern Lights event, this year branded as The Lost Light of Christmas, have announced their backing of the foundation, which is the official charity of Leeds United Football Club, for this year’s winter season.
The charity offers programmes designed to educate, motivate and support young people in communities across Leeds and West Yorkshire, opening opportunities for them to “ grow in confidence, develop skills and build better lives for themselves and the people around them”.
The Northern Lights event will be raising money for the foundation through ticket sales and on site donations and those behind it have also committed to donate 400 tickets for the light trail to people supported by the charity.
Paul Robson, Event Director for Northern Lights said: “We are incredibly proud to be partnering with the Leeds United Foundation and supporting their fantastic work in the city. In our three years at Temple Newsam, Leeds has really embraced Northern Lights and we are always looking for ways to repay the trust placed in us every year.”
Michael Kinsey, Head of Partnerships at the Leeds United Foundation said: “The Leeds United Foundation’s vision is to use the power of Leeds United to create opportunities for young people and their communities to thrive, and this partnership will generate new experiences for many of our young people.
“Northern Lights have committed to providing hundreds of tickets to support groups and individuals who may not otherwise have access to experiences like visiting their Christmas lights and sound trail...We’re looking forward to seeing the joy it will bring our young people this Christmas.”
The Lost Light of Christmas will lead visitors around Temple Newsam, transforming the historic estate to a winter wonderland between November 20 and December 31.
It features installations from some of the UK’s leading light artists, featuring special effects, interactive elements and bespoke audio compositions all tied together with a narrative theme.
Approximately one mile in length, the light trail will host over a dozen illuminations with a selection of vintage fairground rides and classic festive treats, including mulled wine, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.
The event will also include a Christmas Village, with a range of food and drink offerings celebrating Yorkshire’s artisan street food vendors and bars.
