How fitting that a man who so exemplified the values and virtues of Yorkshire will have his send-off in its most famous building, on its annual day of celebration.

While heartbreaking for his loved ones, it will also be an occasion for people across the region to commemorate a man who – personally or through the small screen – was a constant in their lives.

After the Bradfordian’s death at the age of 71, his former colleague and friend Christa Ackroyd paid tribute in these pages.

“You were just Harry. And trust me that was always enough. More than enough.”

Hear, hear.
