A cut in civil service staff numbers is long overdue - Yorkshire Post Letters
From: Clark Cross, Linlithgow, West Lothian.
The Taxpayers' Alliance have just published their latest research which shows that the civil service is growing like Topsy. It reveals that in the last decade civil service numbers increased from 418,340 to 557,825 which is 33.3 per cent.
The salary cost to taxpayers in 2026 will be £22.5bn. On top of this there is the eye watering civil service pension scheme which accounts for an estimated £233.9bn in 2026-27 and is paid for by taxpayers not the civil servants.
The other scam is that hundreds of millions have been dished out in golden goodbyes. This is clearly fraud since no one has ever been sacked even though many have refused to return to their desks for five days a week.

Strange how the sickness levels in the civil service are so high and it would appear that those in the civil service use all their sickness entitlement as extra holidays. So one must ask who runs the country, is it civil servants or the Government? A meaningful cull is essential and long overdue.
