Woman appeals council order demanding she remove caravan from site
A woman in her 70s has appeared in court as part of a planning wrangle with Bradford Council involving a caravan.
In January Baljit Kaur Sangha was handed an enforcement notice by the Council’s planning department that ordered her to remove a static caravan on land at School Square in Thornbury.
The enforcement notice claimed that the caravan and the state of the land “adversely affected the amenity of the area.”
But Mrs Sangha, 78, the owner of the site, has now appealed against that notice, meaning it will be up to a court to decide whether the caravan can remain in place.

Mrs Sangha appeared at Bradford Magistrates Court on Monday, where the date was set for her appeal – February 3.
Joanne Gleeson, representing Bradford Council at Monday’s hearing, said: “The way she is maintaining the land is prejudicial to the amenity of the area.
“The Council has received complaints about the caravan, and have gone through the process of writing to Mrs Sangha.”
Mrs Sangha had supplied a letter to the court setting out details of her appeal. She will argue that the caravan has been in place for over 20 years “without issue.”
In that time, it “has not been used as a separate residence or for any commercial purpose.”
