Rush-hour crash witnesses sought

POLICe are searching for a driver who failed to stop after a rush-hour crash earlier this month on the Sheffield Parkway.

The crash occurred at 5.25pm on Valentine’s Day, between Derek Dooley Way and the Nunnery Square park and ride tram stop.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said yesterday: “Police want to trace the driver of a gold Toyota Yaris, who is believed to have moved from lane three to lane two and caused the driver of a vehicle in lane two – a black Hyundai Coupe – to take evasive action to miss the Yaris.

“The Hyundai collided with a double-decker bus travelling in lane one.

“The driver of the black Hyundai Coupe, a 27-year-old man from North Anston, sustained whiplash and bruising.

“The 52-year-old Rotherham man driving the bus was not reported to have been injured, nor was anyone on the bus.”

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the crash, or anyone who saw the manner of driving of the gold Toyota Yaris just prior to the collision.
