Schoolchildren help launch garden project

Children from Little London Primary School joined a ceremony to mark the start of work on Marks and Spencer's £200,000 sustainable garden in Victoria Gardens, Leeds.

In 2009 the company pledged 200,000 to develop Victoria Gardens, a paved open space outside the Art Gallery in the Headrow, to mark 125 years since being founded in Leeds.

The long-awaited project is being managed by environmental charity Groundwork Leeds in partnership with the city council. The improvements will include tree planting, better surfacing and low-energy lighting. Existing stone features will be repaired and cleaned.
