Police inquiry over patient deaths

A POLICE investigation is under way after two hospital patients died after their medication had been “interfered with”.

Staff found vials of saline had been contaminated at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. They contacted police on July 11 after a nurse reported patients with unexplained low blood sugar levels.

Dr Chris Burke, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s chief executive, said: “The trust has done an initial check of all ampoules in the hospital and is carrying out a number of additional.”
