University makes senior appointment

Tim Watkinson, who took up the newly-created role yesterday, will oversee external and internal communications for the university.

He was most recently deputy director of communications, and previously worked in media relations posts with the Home Office and Ministry of Defence, as well as at the Australian state government of Victoria.

Mr Watkinson said he was “delighted” at the appointment and added: “Sheffield Hallam has an inspiring ambition, both for its students and itself as an institution. I’ve already been impressed at how its communications teams are helping to deliver that ambition.

“I’m delighted to be joining at a very exciting time for the university, and helping to position it as the destination of choice for high quality teaching, partnerships with business, and excellent graduate employment prospects.”
