The fair has some established competitions such as casting, clay shooting, archery, tests, scurries and racing.

However the 2012 event also sees the launch of new contests including the Yorkshire “super suppy”, “starshot” and the spaniel test.

Another attraction is the chance to sample award-winning local produce in the food pavilion which will host tastings and demonstrations throughout the day.

Throughout the weekend there will demonstrations and debates between experts and hands on tuition in areas such as butchery, game prep and recipes, fishing, wildfowling, ferreting and net making.

A spokesman for the Yorkshire Game Fair said: “The show is packed with fun things to do and see and a big Yorkshire welcome awaits.”
