Yorkshire snow: A1(M) slip road at Scotch Corner blocked and shut and heavy snow on high ground in Yorkshire as up to 12 inches falls in the Dales

Up to 12 inches of snow has fallen on high ground in the Yorkshire Dales overnight.

Snow plough lorry driver Thomas Beresford shared videos of notorious routes including Fleet Moss, Buttertubs Pass and Newby Head Pass during his runs this morning.

The owner of an art gallery in Muker also shared images of heavy snow in the village of Busk, which could be cut off.

National Highways said: “The northbound exit slip road on the A1(M) at J53 for Scotch Corner is currently closed due to snow in the area. A gritter and plough is en-route to clear. Thanks for your patience.”
