Ian Brown and co are playing Halifax’s Victoria Theatre this Tuesday, June 7.
The intimate gig has been arranged as a warm-up for the band’s massive concerts at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium later this month.
They will play another small-scale warm-up show at Carlisle’s Sands Centre on Wednesday, June 8.
Tickets for both gigs went on sale at the venues’ box offices at midday today to people who took along a Stone Roses record, concert ticket or T-shirt. Tickets were limited to two per person and cost £25.
Details of the shows were revealed on the band’s Facebook page this morning and long queues quickly formed outside the Victoria Theatre and the Sands Centre.
The Victoria Theatre tweeted: “So excited @thestoneroses are coming to the Vic! All the best to the fans queuing round the block for tickets!”
The Roses played shows at Leeds’s Town & Country Club and Bridlington’s Spa Theatre during their Second Coming tour of 1995.
They also played a legendary gig at Leeds’s Warehouse venue in May 1989 as a nationwide buzz began to build about their just-released debut album, The Stone Roses.
Music writer Dave Simpson was in the audience that night and would later recall: “For 65 minutes, they lashed out songs that would soon become anthems for a generation: She Bangs The Drums, I Wanna Be Adored, Made Of Stone and I Am The Resurrection.
“By the end of the night people were dancing on the tables and I had stumbled across my new favourite band.”
