'He's good to go' - Wales boss Craig Bellamy shares update on Leeds United defender Joe Rodon

A promising update on a key Leeds United figure has been shared by Wales’ boss

Wales boss Craig Bellamy has claimed Leeds United defender Joe Rodon is “good to go” after over two months out of action.

The 29-year-old was forced out of Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Brentford on August 30 and has not made an appearance for the Whites since.

He recently stepped up his hamstring injury rehabilitation with a return to training and has been included in the Wales squad for upcoming Nations League clashes with Norway and Portugal.

Some Leeds fans may have been surprised to see Rodon called up by Bellamy, but the Wales boss has moved to allay fears over the centre-back’s physical condition.

Craig Bellamy issues Joe Rodon update

He said: “I’m always in contact with Joe. He feels good at this present moment. Hopefully he's involved this weekend. If he isn't, we’ll adapt around it, but he's good to go at the moment.

“When you speak to him, he always doesn't tell you if he's feeling anything at all. But he's an immense player, huge player, so fingers crossed we get to use him because we have Ben Cabango suspended as well in the first game.

“Hopefully a good week. We're able to use Joe because we definitely need him.”

Returning figures

Rodon is one of five Leeds players to have received the call and will head off for international duty with Ethan Ampadu, Jayden Lienou, Harry Wilson and Daniel James.

Bellamy said; “Harry, I've had six games now in a row that he hasn't been with us, and we've clearly seen in my time here the influence that Harry's had. He's had a big influence on the team. He's been outstanding for us.

“Joe's been immense, so it's great having him. There's still players who have to come through this week. Fingers crossed when we report Sunday that we have these players available because they're really important players for us, and they've shown that, especially in my time here as well, so I'm really happy.”
