York road closures announced with some restrictions lasting until 2028

Drivers and pedestrians are being warned of road closures across York, including overnight resurfacing, gas mains repairs and a public footpath restriction lasting until 2028.

A series of temporary road and footpath restrictions have been announced across York and surrounding villages, with 14 locations affected by maintenance, construction and utility works.

City of York Council has confirmed closures affecting roads in Heworth, Bishopthorpe, Acomb, Rawcliffe and other areas, with restrictions scheduled throughout October and November.

Among the longest-running restrictions is the continued closure of Public Right of Way 15/17/20 in Kexby, which has been closed under a temporary order dating back to 2022.

The latest order will extend the restriction from Wednesday (Nov 4) until Wednesday (May 3), 2028, while works relating to an unsafe bridge are carried out.
