In response to the huge demand for food during the coronavirus pandemic, the supermarket chain has launched new food boxes, designed to feed people who are struggling to get delivery slots online.

What's in the boxes?

The boxes are designed to provide homes with everyday essentials, with both a vegetarian and meat-eater option available.

Depending on what's currently in stock, the boxes will contain basics like soup, dairy products, rice, pasta, vegetables and essential household items. The meat option will additionally contain beef or chicken.

You'll need to check the labels on the food carefully if you have any allergies, as the boxes may contain products not suitable for certain allergies.

How much does it cost?

The boxes cost £30 each, with a £5 delivery charge, and promise to feed two adults for up to a week. They'll be delivered directly to your doorstep, which is handy if you're self-isolating.

Who are they for?

Though Morrisons has not specified any priority for the boxes, these parcels are aimed at people who may be self-isolating due to being elderly or particularly vulnerable to coronavirus, so it's important to be considerate when ordering.

How can I get one?

To order a box, you'll have to create an account with Morrisons, if you don't already have one.

You then need to specify what time of box you would like, with an allowance of up to two boxes per order. Morrisons says it should be able to deliver on the following day, if you order before 3pm.

You'll then need to enter your details, including your address, and wait for an email confirmation.

You'll get a tracking number in the email so you can follow your delivery when it's on its way. Morrisons says it will use DPD carriers to deliver the boxes.
