Courageous Charlotte takes award

CHARLOTTE CUNDALL, who broke her back in a schooling accident but fought her way back to fitness and to point-to-point riding last year, won the 'Ride of the Season' award for her amazing comeback, which was presented at the recent Yorkshire Area Point-to-Point Championship awards dinner.

Following her serious injury, Charlotte returned to have her first victory, riding Major Shark, at the Sinnington point-to-point when she also beat her father, Chris, into second place.

Other awards went to:

Tennants Auctioneers Gentleman's Championship, Chris Dawson; White Rose Saddlery Ladies' Championship, Jacqueline Coward; Cundalls Novice Ladies' Championship, Charlotte Cundall; JAG Burnell and Son (Electrical) Leading Owner, Tom Bannister; Northern Bookmakers Protection Association Open Horse, Andre Chenier, Chris Cundall; Northern Bookmakers Association Novice Horse, Sea Senor, Brian Dunn; RA Bethell Memorial Trophy for most wins, Gunner Jack, Eric Brook; Howard Brown Memorial Trophy for best home-bred horse, Skarmanche, Sarah Dent.

Chris Dawson also received the Alan Smith Award for the jockey with the most wins.
