Yorkshire veterans thrash Middlesex to lift Over-60s national title for first time
Yorkshire’s Over-60’s team have become national champions for the first time, after a memorable run to the title was sealed with a thumping victory over Middlesex.
In the final, played at Oakamoor Cricket Club in Stoke-on-Trent on Tuesday, Yorkshire scored 181-8, with opener Ian Frost making 67 and captain Graham Shaw 60. In reply, Middlesex were dismissed for just 75 with opening bowlers Kevin Watson (3-21) and Mark Wilson (3-10) ripping through the top order. Steve Wales and Micky Kenyon took two wickets apiece.

The victory cemented a dominant season for Yorkshire, who had twice previously been the Over-60s final but never won it.
In 2026 they went undefeated throughout their 10 games in the North Group. They then defeated Northamptonshire in the first knockout round, the last 16, by seven wickets. Cambridgeshire were the next to fall by eight wickets in the quarter-final, to set up a semi-final with Lancashire.
As befitting the rivalry, a tense game went down to the final over with Yorkshire prevailing by three wickets.
