A new era is being ushered in at Barnsley, with Daniel Stendel back at the Oakwell helm after a turbulent few years for the Reds.
The South Yorkshire club have repeatedly failed to escape League One and fell into the bottom half of the table last season.
Since reappointing Stendel, Barnsley have made eight additions to their squad. Five of those additions - Calum Hudson, Isaac Smith, Cameron McGeehan, Tyrese Noslin and Amani Richards - have penned permanent deals.
Cieran Slicker and Makenzie Kirk have arrived on loan from Ipswich Town and Portsmouth respectively.
There have also been some notable outings, with Adam Phillips among those to have departed Oakwell since the end of the season.
Barnsley’s CEO Jon Flatman recently stressed the importance of discipline, pointing to Lincoln City as a example of a club who have thrived without overspending.
He said: “I think, without speaking out of turn, there's going to be some clubs in League One who have probably decided this year that a more disciplined model is the right one. I think you're going to see more clubs going down that road.
“It's about the discipline. Ambition is a word that can be taken in many different ways. Lincoln were full of ambition this year, but they were also extremely disciplined with their finances and they came out top of the table.
“There's a very clear opportunity there to be disciplined alongside being ambitious, energetic and enthusiastic and being true to what you are as a team and a club. You can do that. That's very possible.”
With Barnsley seemingly determined to remain within budget, the free agent market could prove particularly appealing.
Here are 17 players still without clubs and available for Barnsley to sign.
