Birmingham City's £35m squad value compared to Barnsley, Huddersfield Town, Rotherham United and Wrexham

Much has been made of Birmingham City’s financial power in League One.

While the likes of Yorkshire clubs Huddersfield Town, Barnsley and Rotherham United are targeting promotion, they certainly do not have the ability to attack transfer windows with the aggression Birmingham can.

The Blues suffered relegation from the Championship last season but made a series of statement signings over the summer, making their desire to return to the second tier evident.

Their strategy has worked so far, with Chris Davies’ side sitting top of the table with seven wins from their opening nine games.

Among their signings was forward Jay Stansfield, who Birmingham smashed the League One transfer record to prise from Fulham for £15m. A lot is also made of Wrexham’s financial backing, but how do these clubs compare to their rivals when it comes to squad value?

Here are League One’s most valuable squads, according to Transfermarkt data.
