The Bantams took the lead through a Clayton Donaldson penalty on 11 minutes as they aimed to book their place in the third round.

However, they would not make it into the hat for the third-round draw as Conor McAleny equalised for Oldham on 18 minutes before Daniel Lucas Rowe scored the winner two minutes into the second half.

City exited the competition - which they won in 1911 - at the second-round stage last season as their attention now turns to a League Two meeting with Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night.

Elsewhere, Harrogate Town crashed out of the competition following a 4-0 defeat at home to Blackpool.

Doncaster Rovers and Hull City are both in action tomorrow as they travel to Carlisle United and Stevenage respectively.
