Burnley 1 Hull City 1 - player ratings

Hull City went to Burnley and for the second time in as many games let what was until recently a Premier League team dominate the ball but game away with a hugely encouraging result.

After the home win over Norwich City, this was only a 1-1 draw, but it was hugely encouraging nevertheless, and should give the side a lot of confidence.

Matt Ingram – not forced into anything too flash, but certainly did his job well 7

Lewie Coyle – given a difficult first half by Maatsen and Bastien ganging up on Hull down his side, but the Tigers seemed to get to grips with it in the second half 6

Tobias Figueiredo – even more so, which made his assist all the more creditable 7

Jacob Greaves – fortunate to escape a booking when he overstretched chasing his poor first touch 6

Callum Elder – unable to offer much going forward but it was not a night for that 7

Alfie Jones – booked for being all over Nathan Tella at one point but the defensive midfielder protected his back four well 7

Regan Slater – one exquisite pass for Mallik Wilks 7

Allahyar Sayyadmanesh – not much impact before his hamstring seemed to give out on him 5

Ozan Tufan – a well-taken goal and his threaded pass to Estupinan was another reminder of the quality Hull have added to their ranks 8

Benjamin Tetteh – like his fellow winger Sayyadmanesh Hull struggled to get him into the game and when he switched flanks to help out defensively, he picked up a booking 5

Oscar Estupinan – had a shot cleared off the line but also made the goal with a clever header on a night when Hull's forwards saw little of the ball and had to make it count 7

Substitutes:

Randel Williams (for Sayyadmanesh, 55) – like the man he replaced, little opportunity to have an impact 5

Mallik Wilks (for Tetteh, 63) – his chance came from a tight angle 5

Vaughn Covil (for Estupinan, 76) – the teenager should be pleased he was trusted in that situation 5

Andy Cannon (for Tufan, 76) – huge boots to fill but he did a job 5

Not used: Baxter, McLoughlin, C Jones.
