Doncaster Rovers transfer latest: Key winger Luke Molyneux completes move to League Two outfit Salford City
DONCASTER Rovers winger Luke Molyneux has completed his move to ambitious League Two big-spenders Salford City for an undisclosed fee.
The north-easterner spent four seasons at the club following his move from Hartlepool United in the summer of 2022, but had rejected the club’s overtures regarding a new deal – with his contract up next summer.
The 28-year-old announced his intention to head for pastures new in a surprise development, with Rovers making contingencies by lining up a move for ex-Cheltenham Town man Jordan Thomas, whose signing was confirmed ahead of Molyneux’s departure.
Molyneux was a key figure in Rovers' promotion from League Two in 2024-25, picking up the club's Player of the Season, Players' Player of the Year and Supporters' Player of the Year awards along the way.

He made 52 appearances in League One last term, scoring eight goals and providing eleven assists.
Speaking about Molyneux’s future last week, Rovers chief Grant McCann confirmed the club had turned down one bid for him from an unnamed club.
He added: "Luke, unfortunately, has not wanted to get into negotiations and rejected the deal, which is his prerogative.
"We've rejected a bid for Luke, so that (his situation) is in (ongoing) discussions at the minute. This came after we offered the contract. so I don't want anyone thinking we offered him a contract because of the bid, it was way before the bid.”
