Doncaster Rovers transfer latest: Winger leaves to join League Two club

DONCASTER Rovers winger Glenn Middleton has completed a permanent move to League Two side Rochdale for an undisclosed fee.

The ex-Scotland under-21 international, 26, had been transfer-listed since late spring when the club announced their retained list at the end of last season and has now finally moved on after a deal was struck with Dale.

The former Glasgow Rangers, Hibernian and St Johnstone player joined Rovers last summer from Dundee United and made 45 appearances for the club last term.

The move follows on from Rovers’ deadline-day capture of experienced striker James Collins, who has joined on loan from Championship newcomers Lincoln City until January.

On Middleton’s exit, Rovers manager Grant McCann said: "Glenn and the club have come to a decision that we believe is best for both parties, allowing him to move elsewhere and pursue regular first-team football.

"We are grateful for the work he's put in during his time here and we hope he enjoys plenty of success with Rochdale."
