Doncaster Rovers v Sheffield Wednesday: Henrik Pedersen on facing the music - and a selection dilemma

THE mood among Sheffield Wednesday's big travelling support did not make for a sweet symphony at Notts County on Tuesday night.

For the second away game in a row - with only a dramatic finale at Huddersfield Town masking over a generally disappointing performance - the Owls were very underwhelming.

Henrik Pedersen's side did not muster an effort on target at Meadow Lane. From a public relations perspective, the dangers of his players delivering a similar performance at the Club Doncaster Sports Village should not need to be spelt out to the Dane.

Pedersen said: "I think the first half we were not good enough and I think we all sat in the dressing room after the game and said: 'hey, we were not good enough today in the first half.'

"As for the reaction. I've said before; I respect every reaction and every opinion and we use all our focus to bring a new good game, so we can get another reaction from the fans and I'm sure it will come soon again."

Wednesday are without attacking midfielder Callum Slattery and top-scorer Jamal Lowe at Doncaster due to suspension. Lowe will be missing for the next three games.

Pedersen faces a decision regarding which player to leave out of his squad from his six predominantly offensively-minded loan players.

Rules stipulate that only five loanees can be included on a matchday.

The Owls chief continued: "Of course it's the main part.

"A lot of our offensive players are loan players. And then when you get two suspensions from no loan players, then of course the number is reduced.

"And from there we will find a solution, but of course it has reduced the offensive number."

One player who will be taken out of the firing line is defender Gabriel Otegbayo following a tough evening at Notts, compounded by conceding a poor penalty.

Pedersen added: "I think in the last two games where he came in (before), I think he did well.

"And yes, then he had a tough game (on Tuesday) and I think now it's time for a little rest for him and then Ernie Weaver can make a step up in this. So I think it's natural.

"But I think the last two games when Gab came in (before), it was good. But of course, he had a difficult evening on Tuesday."

Di’Shon Bernard will miss today's game – but should be back training next week.
