Harrogate Town v Leyton Orient - Boss Simon Weaver desperate to snap dismal Orient run

Harrogate Town’s head-to-head record against Leyton Orient makes for fairly grim reading.

In three previous encounters between the sides, the Sulphurites have suffered three defeats, failed to score a single goal and conceded eight times.

The League Two rivals meet again at Wetherby Road tonight and, quite understandably, Simon Weaver feels that his team “have a score to settle.”

“We haven’t taken a point off Leyton Orient and it does feel like we owe them one, even though there is no animosity between the two clubs,” he said.

“We’ve got a score to settle, but it’s more with ourselves, to prove it to ourselves. They are another established club with a good fan-base and have been at a higher level than us through the course of their footballing history.

“Now we’re at their level, it would be nice for us to know that we’ve overcome a hurdle and managed to beat Leyton Orient.”

It is not just a result against Orient that feels like it is overdue. Harrogate are winless in six matches and have taken just one point from the last 18 on offer.

They produced their best display in some time at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, and although they ended up losing that game 2-1, Weaver was encouraged by what he saw.

He added: “I’m proud of a lot of aspects of our play from the other day and hopefully now we learn our lessons and can keep stepping forwards.”

Last six games: Harrogate Town LLDLLL; Leyton Orient LDWWWW

Referee: A Backhouse (Carlisle).

Last time: Leyton Orient 3 Harrogate Town 0, November 21, 2020, League Two.
